The Nook Terms and Condition

1. Booking and Payment
  • A deposit of 50% of the total hire fee is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due 7 days prior to the event.
  • A refundable bond is required for all bookings. The bond amount varies depending on the day and time of the booking.
  • Regular ongoing bookings (weekly or monthly) require a minimum commitment period as specified in the pricing table.
2. Cancellations and Refunds
  • Cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the event will receive a full refund of the deposit.
  • Cancellations made within 14 days of the event will forfeit the deposit.
  • The Nook reserves the right to cancel bookings due to unforeseen circumstances, with a full refund provided to the client.
3. Use of Venue
  • The Nook is available for hire on a do-it-yourself basis. Clients are responsible for setting up, managing, and cleaning up after their event.
  • The Nook has a maximum of 40 guests capacity.
  • The venue must be vacated by the agreed-upon time. Any additional time used beyond the booked period will incur additional charges.
  • Clients are responsible for ensuring that noise levels are kept within acceptable limits and do not disturb neighboring properties.
  • No smoking/vaping is allowed inside the venue
4. Alcohol and Catering
  • The Nook is not licensed to sell alcohol. Clients may bring their own alcohol or hire a licensed caterer to serve alcohol.
  • All food and drink must be prepared off-site. The Nook has a small kitchen and bar available for use, but it is not equipped for large-scale cooking.
5. Security and Alarm System
  • The Nook is equipped with an alarm system. The client is responsible for activating the alarm upon leaving the premise (see lock up procedure)
  • If the client has not activated the alarm and vacated the premises by agreed upon time, the monitoring company will be notified. They will, in turn, contact a security company to attend the premises.The cost for security attendance is $80.00 plus GST for the first 10 minutes on site, and $1.50 plus GST per minute thereafter. This fee will be deducted from the bond or charged to the client.
6. Damage and Liability
  • Clients are responsible for any damage to the property, furnishings, or equipment during their hire period.
  • Any damage costs will be deducted from the bond. If the cost of damages exceeds the bond, the client will be invoiced for the difference.
  • The Nook is not liable for any loss or damage to personal property or for any injury sustained by clients or their guests during the hire period.
7. Cleaning
  • The venue must be left in a clean and tidy condition. All rubbish must be bagged and tied, and all furniture and equipment returned to their original positions.
  • A cleaning fee of $100 will apply for specific bookings, as outlined in the pricing table. Additional cleaning fees may be charged if the venue is not left in an acceptable condition.
8. Force Majeure
  • The Nook is not liable for any failure to provide the venue or services due to events beyond its control, including but not limited to natural disasters, power outages, or government restrictions.
9. Compliance with Laws
  • Clients must comply with all local laws and regulations, including those related to noise, alcohol, and safety.
10. Termination
  • The Nook reserves the right to terminate the booking immediately if any of these terms and conditions are breached.


By booking The Nook, the client agrees to abide by these terms and conditions. The Nook reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.


The Nook Venue Liability Waiver

By booking and using The Nook for your event, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

  1. Assumption of Risk
    I, the undersigned, understand and acknowledge that by entering The Nook, I do so at my own risk. I assume full responsibility for any injuries, accidents, or damages that may occur to myself, my guests, or my property during the event, including but not limited to injuries resulting from the use of alcohol, drugs, or any other substances.
  2. Release of Liability
    I agree to release, waive, and discharge The Nook and its owners, employees, and representatives from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action related to any injuries or damages sustained by myself or my guests while at the venue, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.
  3. Alcohol and Drug Consumption
    I understand that The Nook is a BYO (Bring Your Own) alcohol venue. I agree that The Nook, its owners, and staff are not responsible for monitoring alcohol or drug consumption by myself or my guests. I assume all liability for any injury or damages resulting from the consumption of alcohol or drugs by myself or my guests.
  4. Indemnification
    I agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Nook, its owners, employees, and representatives from any claims, demands, damages, or legal actions arising from any injuries or incidents occurring at the venue during my event.
  5. Compliance with Laws
    I agree to comply with all local laws and regulations regarding the consumption of alcohol and drugs. I acknowledge that any illegal activity or behavior at the venue is solely my responsibility, and The Nook will not be held liable for any such actions.
